As you step inside, the inviting atmosphere instantly makes you feel at home. The café is adorned with unique collections of Coca-Cola tins and various souvenirs, adding a touch of nostalgia to your dining experience. Whether you're seeking a cool retreat from the tropical sun or a cozy spot to enjoy the local delicacies, Number 1 Kopitiam delivers on both fronts.

The standout dish here is undeniably their cendol, a traditional Malaysian dessert that has captured the hearts of many. Customers rave about its delightful flavors, with reviews highlighting the mix of kacang merah (red beans) and rich gula melaka. A satisfied customer, Husniah Buang, shared, "We had cendol mix with kacang merah and gula melaka here... the cendol was delicious!" Indeed, it's a refreshing treat that perfectly complements a stroll around the bustling Jonker Street.

Additionally, if you’re adventurous, don’t miss the durian cendol, praised by patrons like Suffie, who gave it a stunning rating of 9.5/10.0. “The durian is real and tasteful,” they noted, making it a perfect choice for durian lovers. For those with a sweet tooth, the cendol with an extra drizzle of Melaka Gula is a delightful indulgence, even if it skews on the sweeter side.

While the café may not boast a fanciful environment, it exudes a cozy charm that welcomes weary travelers. As ZH Ngan mentions, it’s a pleasant spot to drop by for a quick refresher after exploring the vibrant area. The croissants and coffee have also earned high praise from guests like Yoshi, adding a lovely European touch to the Asian offerings.

Your visit to Number 1 Kopitiam wouldn't be complete without taking a moment to chat with the friendly staff. Their warmth and eagerness to share the story behind the café make your experience all the more personal. Although it’s bittersweet that the original lady boss has passed away, as Cecilia C shares, the quality of the food remains unwavering, ensuring that the legacy lives on.

So, if you find yourself in Melaka, make sure to stop by Number 1 Kopitiam for the best cendol in town and witness the delightful fusion of flavors that this café has to offer. Your taste buds will thank you!

Best chendol in Jonker Walk. Tried 3 stalls at a go and this one beats Jonker 88 and Farmosa hands down.

We had cendol mix with kacang merah and gula melaka here. We captured on video how the cendol was prepared. Cendol was delicious except a little too sweet for me. This shop also displayed a collection of Coca-Cola tins and souvenirs. Friendly staff too!

Everytime I visit Malacca, I will have my chendol here! Sadly, I was informed that the lady boss has passed away but the standard of the chendol remained the same....yummy as always!! Will definitely go again :) Picture on left is original version and right with durian topping ordered by my cousin

Refreshing cendol after long walk around the city. We had durian cendol, ice cream cendol & original cendol.

All ok - not the best chendol, not the best environment, but it’s a nice shop to drop by after a walk under the sun in Jonker Street.

9.5/10.0 for cendol. The durian cendol is a must for you. They put a bit too much of Melaka Gula, but since it is in bottom so it is not a big matter. The durian is real and tasteful. 8/10 for curry puff, so small and expensive. It is not old just aesthetic.
